Occupy Midian Report Transcript #9

I apologize for the great delay in posting this transcript, life and my internet connection have been a bit wacky as of late. But better late than never. This is the first Occupy Midian report since the Monster Mania event in New Jersey. Unfortunately I was unable to attend; I cannot wait to hear Ryan’s commentary about his experiences while there. For others, like me, who couldn’t be at this event there are some amazing fan photos and videos from Monster Mania that have been posted on the Occupy Midian Facebook Group’swall.

Anne Bobby has called the Monster Mania weekend “The most fun she’s ever had with clothes on” and I do believe that is saying something. Also during the Q&A panel, Anne called for more letters to be sent to Morgan Creek, tell them why the Cabal Cut is important to you, and ask them when you can buy it on Blu-Ray or DVD. There is a form letter on Occupy Midian’s facebook page under the files tab for you to copy and use if you need to and Morgan Creek’s address is on there as well you will want to edit the letter to include your name and which event you saw the Cabal Cut at. 

Even though I was unable to attend Monster Mania I did get to view part of the Q&A panel thanks to Christian from the Occupy Midian group and the wonderful invention called youtube. You can find links to the Q&A video on, yep you guessed it, the Occupy Midian Facebook page (seriously, if you haven’t joined yet, you really should, we almost always have some interesting news or at least some great conversation going on over there).

I haven’t done an update on the petition lately, but as of now there are over 7,000 signatures. You can find a link to the petition in the top left corner of OccupyMidian.com

As for the future of the Cabal Cut there are currently seven upcoming screenings, six of which take place in the UK and one that will be in Germany. For more information on where those screenings will be held please visit Occupy Midian’s website and click on the screenings link.

We are still encouraging you to sign the petition if you have not, send letters to Morgan Creek to help them realize how many people are truly interested in this film being properly released, and do Occupy Midian sign photos and testimonial videos. For ideas on the photos, view the Occupy Midian Signs under the photos tab on the Occupy Midian Facebook Group. Hopefully with all the publicity that we are gaining and with your help, we can accomplish this goal. We get closer every single day.

Perhaps soon we will free the tribes of the moon. 

Occupy Midian Report 5 Transcript

The Nightbreed Cabal Cut screening in Los Angeles, California grew to two screenings that both sold out. This, in addition to the hard work that everyone has put in to raise awareness of this film, has brought about a wonderful thing.

On June 12, Clive Barker announced on his twitter:

My friends, Clive here, writing to share some wonderful news. Following the two Sold Out screenings of NIGHTBREED: The Cabal Cut on Sunday, Morgan Creek has given us permission to show the cut around the world and to raise money to prepare the cut for a release on Blu-ray... This could not, would not have happened without your voices. We have all been heard. The Morgan Creek team have my thanks and my respect. Very seldom does anyone in the movie business pay attention as they have, understanding perhaps that the message of the movie as I shot it is one that dramatizes a different ending to the age-old story of how a war between Humankind and something Other draws to a close. The real NIGHTBREED will be available for everyone to see. I hope its message of redemption and forgiveness move you.

When I first heard this news, I was doing a happy dance all around my apartment. The Occupy Midian Facebook group was donning their celebratory hats once again, and with good reason. But we must keep in mind that there is still quite a bit of work that must be done. Morgan Creek is giving permission to show the cut worldwide, which will raise more awareness about this wonderful film. Also they are giving permission to raise money for preparing the Cabal cut for a Blu-ray release. This means there are still many things that need to be done to the film for it to be ready for release, as well as money that needs to be earned in order to put in this work. We are still waiting for further news from the wonderful folks that have been working so hard on Nightbreed the Cabal Cut on what measures they are going to take to raise funds, and how we the fans can help.

So join us in the celebration in this huge step forward, but please help us continue to spread the word.

Morgan Creek Gives Permission to Raise Money for Blu-Ray of Cabal Cut

I logged onto Facebook about 15 minutes ago to discover that on the Occupy Midian Group there was quite a riveting conversation going.

The message from Clive Barker was on twitter this afternoon.

Needless to say we are ecstatic. I will come back to you with what the next steps will be in helping to get the cut shown and to raise money for it's release.

Occupy Midian Report 1 Transcript

I apologize that it has taken me so long to get this typed up for you guys. Busy schedule with school and work lately, I will do my best to do better with the next report transcript.

It is hard to believe that we are only three weeks into the Occupy Midian Movement. Since the Facebook Group was created it has literally exploded with an outpouring of support from Nightbreed fans. In the past three weeks we have accrued nearly 2500 members, the petition is also nearing 2500 signatures. If you have not signed the petition, please do so, there should be a link on clivebarkercast.com that you can follow.  

We have also had the pleasure of having support from many of the people who worked on the film joining the ranks of Occupy Midian, both on Facebook and using the #OccupyMidian hashtag on Twitter. We've had Clive Barker himself tweeting as well as few other famous tweeters such as Neil Gaiman, Nicholas Vince, Simon Bamford, and Steven Niles. On Facebook our group is blessed to be able to count Russell Cherrington and Mark Miller amongst its administrators. Within the Occupy Midian group we are able to count Anne Bobby, Simon Bamford, Hugh Ross, Nick Vince, Robbie Drake, and Jullian Parry amongst our members. For anyone I left out, I sincerely apologize, but it is a task going through nearly 2500 members to seek you out. Let me know who you are and I will be sure you achieve proper credit in our next Occupy Midian Report. 

Along with asking fans to sign the petition, there is currently a call on Occupy Midian for fan photos with a sign telling what Nightbreed means to them. We have had some amazing fan photo uploads as well as sign photos from Anne Bobby, Mark Miller, and a very convincing Dr. Decker looking fan.

In addition to all of this, Occupy Midian has had some amazing publicity, there are some great fan videos and Nightbreed testimonials up on Youtube, Fangoria.com has an article up, ProudlyResents.com did a podcast interviewing Russell Cherrington, GeeksofDoom.com has written an article about Occupy Midian as well as: Rue-Morgue.com, Mutantville.com, ShocktilYouDrop.com, and many others. I am trying to keep a running list of all the articles, videos, and podcasts that are done about Occupy Midian on Scoop.it/bring-back-nightbreed as there are so many it would be nearly impossible to go over them all here.

The fans of Nightbreed are many and we are occupying Midian to the extreme. Join the ranks of the Tribes of the Moon, Occupy Midian, and in the words of Clive Barker, "Go Forth & Breed."

And Pandemonium Breaks Loose...

Tonight's Nightbreed flashback is brought to you from another piece out of Richie V.'s collection. pg. 68 of Pandemonium Conceived and Edited by Michael Brown.

In the top left you have David Cronenberg as the maniacal Dr. Decker. In the original cut of Nightbreed, you miss out on how much of a hold that little mask has on Decker. You get to hear it talk to him (or command him rather) in the Cabal cut, which even if a shorter addition to the movie, is quite a treat in and of itself.

In the top right corner is a Pre-Production sketch of Decker with the button face mask on. I love how skeletal this sketch looks. However, even without the movie Decker looking quite this menacing, that little mask still sometimes shows up in the corners of my most uncomfortable dreams.

Bottom left corner is a Pre-Production sketch of Ashberry transformed. Great little sketch and they stick fairly close with it in the film.

Bottom right corner is Malcolm Smith being made to look like the scalded Ashberry. If you have seen the Cabal cut (which too many of the population hasn't, and we hope that this gets rememdied asap) then you have missed an incredible ending where Ashberry's character has quite a transformation, for me this by itself changed the entire movie and left me yearning to know more about his character.

So many things were made more beautiful and more ugly (in a good way that ugly can sometimes be good) for me. For those of you who want the chance to see this movie please help by joining the Occupy Midian/Bring Back Nightbreed movement:
